Bruce Branch III, a highly sought-after five-star small forward from the 2026 class, has officially committed to Brigham Young University (BYU), according to sources from Rivals. Standing at 6-feet-7 inches and hailing from Prolific Prep in Florida, Branch was once the top-ranked player in the 2027 class before deciding to reclassify to a higher grade, positioning him as the No. 10 player overall in the 2026 class as per the Rivals Industry Ranking.

Originally from Arizona, Branch chose to join the BYU Cougars over a competitive array of offers from prestigious programs such as USC, Kansas, Kentucky, and Louisville. His commitment marks the third consecutive year that BYU has successfully recruited a top-tier prospect, following former No. 1 recruit AJ Dybantsa and projected NBA draft lottery selection Egor Demin.

In the 2026 class, Branch becomes the fourth commitment for BYU, joining forces with four-star small forward Dean Rueckert, who ranks No. 66 nationally, three-star center Will Openshaw, and JUCO combo guard KJ Perry. This robust recruitment effort has positioned BYU at No. 23 in national rankings according to KenPom, with an 8-8 record in Big 12 play and an overall standing of 20-9 this season.

What makes Branch an exciting addition to the Cougars is his versatility and skill set. Rivals National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw highlighted Branch’s “connectivity as a wing,” noting his ability to shoot accurately from the spot, facilitate ball movement in half-court situations, and defend multiple positions on the court. His impressive wingspan, mobility, and athleticism set a strong foundation for his defensive capabilities, with the potential for continuous growth as he hones his technique. Furthermore, his offensive game is evolving, establishing himself as a reliable spot shooter, which will undoubtedly add depth and spacing to BYU’s offensive strategy.

With the inclusion of Branch III, BYU’s basketball program is not only enhancing its current roster but also building for a promising future, highlighting the successful ongoing recruitment efforts by the coaching staff.
