Gianpiero Lambiase, the Head of Racing for Red Bull Racing, discussed the team’s recent performance in Australia, highlighting the need for operational improvements ahead of the critical qualifying sessions and the race. Despite a strong start in Friday’s first practice session, the team faced challenges in the second session, particularly with Max Verstappen, who dealt with mechanical issues that limited his track time.

“We made a few tweaks to the cars, testing opposing directions for P2,” Lambiase explained. “Unfortunately, Max had limited running due to various issues, which we hope to resolve overnight.” His comments underscored a commitment to learning from the mixed results, as the team worked to fine-tune their strategies.

Lambiase also acknowledged the importance of reviewing the mechanical setup changes made by Isack Hadjar, who finished the second practice session in ninth place. “We need to look at the data from his setup changes in P2 to decide the best course of action for tomorrow. This will also benefit Car 3 and Max,” he noted, emphasizing the collaborative effort needed to enhance performance.

Red Bull’s chief engineer, Paul Monaghan, further illustrated the difficulties faced during the day, revealing that Verstappen’s RB22 sustained floor damage after he slid off at Turn 10 and skidded across the gravel. Monaghan confirmed that the damage would keep the engineering team busy throughout the night as they worked to rectify the issues ahead of Saturday’s qualifications.

As the team prepares for the competitive stages of the weekend, optimism remains high that adjustments can be made to capitalize on their strengths and address the setbacks experienced during practice sessions.
