Raiders Shake Up OC as Chip Kelly Exits

The Las Vegas Raiders are officially moving on from offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, according to sources cited by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This decision comes on the heels of a disappointing season where the Raiders fell to a record of 2-9 following a 24-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Kelly was originally brought on board in February and became the NFL’s highest-paid coordinator, following a notable tenure as offensive coordinator at Ohio State. Expectations for the Raiders’ offense were high this year, especially with the additions of running back Ashton Jeanty and quarterback Geno Smith. Unfortunately, the team has struggled significantly, averaging just 4.7 yards per play, ranking them as one of the least effective offenses in the league.

This dismissal is part of a broader shakeup in the Raiders’ coaching staff, as head coach Pete Carroll also recently let go of special teams coordinator Tom McMahon in November. The move illustrates the team’s urgent need to address their offensive struggles as they look towards the remainder of the season in hopes of rebuilding for the future.

While this transition introduces challenges, it could also open doors for new strategies and rejuvenated offensive play that might change the course of the Raiders’ season.
