With Kyle Busch securing the pole position for the DAYTONA 500 and Austin Dillon clocking the fastest time in Friday’s practice, Richard Childress Racing (RCR) appears poised to dominate at this year’s prestigious event. Busch’s No. 8 Chevrolet made a strong impression during pole qualifying, achieving the fastest times across both rounds, marking his first front-row start in his 21 appearances at the DAYTONA 500.
Teammate Dillon, who clinched the DAYTONA 500 title in 2018, has also demonstrated promising performance this week. This comes after a significant offseason that saw changes in team leadership and an introduction of a new Chevrolet Camaro body.
Dillon expressed pride in the offseason efforts, stating, “I think ECR horsepower is, again, showing how dominant they are. We get to these speedways, and they always seem to give us a shot. Job well done to Chevrolet with the new Camaro. We feel like we can take the fight on offense more.”
He further noted the struggles faced in previous years at speedways, and how the current setup allows for a more competitive edge, enhancing not just performance but the overall experience of racing. Dillon’s positive outlook reflects the renewed confidence at RCR, suggesting that fans can expect a thrilling battle from the team this Sunday.
