Pittsburgh International Airport Unveils New Landside Terminal—What Drivers Need to Know

Pittsburgh International Airport is set to unveil its new landside terminal next week, ushering in a range of changes for those arriving by car. To ensure a smooth experience, travelers should be aware of the new traffic patterns and parking options.

As you exit the Parkway West, you will still take the familiar exit to the airport. However, shortly after passing the airport’s iconic eagle signs, drivers must navigate to the right onto a newly constructed entrance road. This marks the beginning of the adjustments regarding how to access the terminal.

For those heading to the new terminal, the right two lanes will guide you directly there. If you plan to use the new 3,300-space parking garage, simply veer left onto the ramp leading to the garage, which offers a convenient hallway walk into the terminal upon parking.

If you’re looking for surface parking at the new terminal, be sure to stay left as you ascend the ramp to make the appropriate stop. As you approach the terminal, you’ll face a crucial decision: veer left to pick up arriving passengers, mirroring the current terminal setup, or stay right to reach the departure level, which features skycap services for select airlines. For others, be ready to check in your bags inside the terminal.

For travelers seeking budget-friendly parking at the original terminal’s lots, follow signs directing you to shuttle lots, as this will lead you off the airport property. From there, new shuttle buses will transport you directly to the terminal entrance, eliminating the need for long walks from distant lots. The shuttle ride is brief, taking only a few minutes.

Parking costs vary significantly, with shuttle lot rates starting as low as $8 per day and garage fees reaching up to $35 per day. The garage also accommodates short visits with hourly rates.

As with any new facility, clarity in navigation will depend on disciplined driving, especially during the initial days. To simplify the process, a handy guideline is to stay to the right when heading to the terminal building and veer left for parking.

Pittsburgh International Airport is making significant strides with its new terminal, promising a more efficient and user-friendly experience for all travelers.
