A Marine recruit at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island was injured during marksmanship training on Wednesday, November 5. The recruit sustained a gunshot wound to the foot while participating in scheduled training exercises, as reported in a statement from the depot’s Communication Strategy and Operations Office.
Emergency personnel on-site quickly responded to the incident, and the recruit was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition by 6 p.m. the same day.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is currently underway. The depot has stated that personal information about the injured recruit will not be disclosed at this time. This incident follows a previous occurrence in August 2025, when another recruit suffered a gunshot wound to the leg during marksmanship training on Parris Island. That recruit was airlifted to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah for treatment.
