Scott Parker remains optimistic as Burnley prepares to face Brentford today, despite the club’s recent struggles that have seen them drop into the relegation zone of the Premier League. The Clarets have endured three consecutive defeats, but Parker emphasizes the progress his team is making, focusing on their development rather than the current league standings.
Burnley managed to secure one away victory this season, a thrilling 3-2 triumph over Wolves last month, and now they approach the match at the Gtech Community Stadium with a positive mindset. Parker expressed a strong sense of progression within his squad, highlighting the importance of daily improvement and the overall journey they are undertaking.
“You can’t give much notice to a league table at this stage of the season,” Parker stated. “What I take notice of is what I see from this group…there’s still progress to be made and learnings to be had, but a dozen games in, I’m pleased with what I’ve seen for the large part.”
Parker acknowledged the need for his players to stay focused and composed, particularly when facing challenges. He underscored that at the Premier League level, “precision is everything,” with games often decided by the smallest margins, urging his team to sharpen their focus.
As the fixture approaches, Parker also praised Brentford and their manager Keith Andrews, recognizing the impressive job he has done in a short period. “Brentford are a strong team, make no mistake about it,” Parker observed, adding that Andrews’ leadership has been pivotal in the team’s performance.
Despite the challenging circumstances, Parker remains hopeful and is determined for his team to cause problems for Brentford. With an ambitious mindset, he asserted, “We’ll go there with full steam ahead,” indicating his belief in the squad’s potential to secure a positive result against a formidable opponent.
