Overnight Head-On Crash in Wright County Leaves Two Dead

A tragic collision in Rockford Township, Wright County, has claimed the lives of two individuals and left several others injured. The incident occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, on Highway 55 near the intersection with County Road 33, according to a report by the Minnesota State Patrol.

The crash involved a head-on collision between a GMC Acadia, driven eastbound on Highway 55, and a Chevy Equinox, which was traveling westbound. The impact was severe, resulting in both vehicles rolling into the north ditch beside the road.

In this devastating event, Shawn Aaron Slaven, 50, from Plymouth, who was behind the wheel of the GMC, succumbed to his injuries. Similarly, Mindimoie Monik Diggines, 20, from St. Paul, the driver of the Equinox, also suffered fatal injuries from the crash.

Additionally, two 18-year-old women who were passengers in the Equinox were taken to a hospital for medical treatment. One of the young women is reported to have life-threatening injuries, while the other is injured but expected to survive.

This incident highlights the dangers of road travel, especially during late-night hours. As authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, the community mourns the loss of life and hopes for the recovery of those injured.
