New York’s Inflation Refund Checks: Most Mailed, 600,000 Still Waiting

As the holiday shopping season approaches, residents in New York State are eagerly waiting for their inflation refund checks. News10NBC’s Emily Putnam has provided an update on the status of these checks, shedding light on the distribution process initiated by Governor Kathy Hochul’s office.

So far, approximately 7.6 million checks have been mailed out to eligible New Yorkers, representing more than 92% of the total expected disbursement. The state plans to issue a total of 8.2 million checks, which means roughly 600,000 checks are still pending delivery. Those who have yet to receive their checks can expect them to arrive in the mail over the next few weeks.

The distribution of these checks is based on the timing of tax returns filed for 2023. Individuals who filed their returns later in the year, including those who submitted them as late as October, are likely among the remaining recipients awaiting their checks.

As New Yorkers anticipate the arrival of these funds, which are intended to alleviate some of the financial burdens brought on by inflation, the state continues its efforts to ensure timely delivery. If residents have questions regarding their checks, they are encouraged to reach out via email to the provided contact for assistance.
