Missing Union High School coach Travis Turner prompts ongoing search in Wise County, Virginia

An active search for Travis Turner, the head football coach of Union High School, is underway in Wise County, Virginia. According to a spokesperson from the Virginia State Police, the search for Turner resumed Sunday following his official listing as a missing person in the state’s database. The police report indicates that the 46-year-old coach was last seen on Thursday, November 20, wearing a gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and glasses.

Initially, on Friday, law enforcement agents visited Turner’s residence in Appalachia as part of an ongoing investigation. While they clarified that the visit was not to arrest him, the agents were informed during transit that Turner had left the location. As of late Saturday, his whereabouts remain unknown.

In a separate but related matter, a staff member within the Wise County Schools has been placed on administrative leave while an external agency conducts a review regarding an undisclosed allegation. The school division stated that this is standard procedure and does not imply any wrongdoing. Details remain scant as officials, including Superintendent Mike Goforth, have refrained from identifying the staff member involved.

The situation surrounding Travis Turner continues to develop, and authorities are actively pursuing leads. Community members are hopeful for his safe return, and updates will be provided as new information emerges.
