The search for 71-year-old Dr. Cletus Iwuagwu, reported missing from his Holland home, continues to intensify as authorities step up their efforts. Dr. Iwuagwu was last seen around 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday, captured on surveillance video near his residence.
The Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with fire departments from Toledo and Springfield Township, is concentrating its search in the Stone Oak neighborhood, as well as nearby bodies of water and wooded areas. As part of the ongoing search, advanced technology including drones, sonar equipment, and cadaver dogs has been deployed.
On Friday, LCSO Lt. Jonathan Leach stated, “We ran a drone through the area, searched the body of water in the surrounding area, and then Toledo Fire put a boat in to conduct a sonar sweep.” Despite these extensive efforts, authorities have not yet been able to locate Dr. Iwuagwu.
Previously, on Wednesday, officials conducted searches in the same vicinity, including exploring a body of water based on received information. An underwater drone was utilized by the Toledo Fire Department during these efforts, but unfortunately, they did not yield the desired results.
Currently, the sheriff’s office is urging anyone with potential information or sightings of Dr. Iwuagwu to come forward. Authorities have indicated that no foul play is suspected at this stage in the investigation. It was noted that Dr. Iwuagwu had been recently released from the hospital, and he was last seen wearing a white shirt along with a blue shirt.
This case remains active, and the community is encouraged to assist in the efforts to locate Dr. Iwuagwu, emphasizing the importance of any piece of information that could lead to his safe return.
