Miss Samoa, Iliganoa Feagaimali’i Soti, proudly represents her picturesque village of Vaisala on the northwestern coast of Savai’i. Her upbringing in this close-knit community has cultivated in her a profound sense of faith, cultural pride, and a commitment to community service, values she attributes to her parents and the teachings of her village.
Iliganoa has distinguished herself academically, earning a Bachelor of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Adelaide through the prestigious Australian Awards program. Currently, she holds multiple roles at the National University of Samoa, serving as a Lecturer in Sociology, Foundation Courses Coordinator, and Researcher. In these capacities, she dedicates herself to nurturing the educational journey of young individuals, fostering their growth and development.
Beyond her academic contributions, Iliganoa has significantly impacted various youth initiatives. As a World Literacy Foundation Youth Ambassador and Australian Awards Changemaker, she has been pivotal in advocating for youth empowerment. Her leadership extends to being a founding member of the Samoa Youth Advisory Board, representing Samoa and the Pacific at esteemed international youth forums, peace conferences, and the upcoming 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting Youth Forum.
Iliganoa’s passion for cultural preservation is reflected in her active participation in the Anofale Mentoring & Leadership Program, which aims to honor and celebrate Samoan heritage. Additionally, she co-facilitates the Peer2Peer Initiative at her university, focusing on the personal and professional development of students. Her commitment to health and wellness led her to establish the Ola Malosi Initiative, a community space dedicated to promoting exercise, training, and mental wellness. She emphasizes the vital role of maintaining a balance between mind, body, and spirit for a fulfilling life.
