Allegations of bullying and body shaming have emerged against the Miss Fiji Pageant Committee, following statements made by Miss Fiji 2025, Dr. Peggy Ravusiro. In a recent press conference, Dr. Ravusiro voiced concerns about her treatment during the pageant, particularly criticizing unprofessional comments regarding her weight.

Dr. Ravusiro recounted that she faced suggestions to lose more weight and was warned that her weight could jeopardize her participation in the competition. She also highlighted criticism directed at her support team, which includes former Miss South Pacific, Alisi Rabukawaqa, labeling the feedback as damaging and counterproductive.

Emphasizing the importance of representing Fiji at regional events, Dr. Ravusiro stressed that such concerns should be conveyed in a more appropriate manner. She stated, “Through the lens of pageantry, we are selling female empowerment. From the beginning, that is not something that you say to the contestant that will represent a nation on a regional stage.”

Currently, the Miss Fiji Pageant Committee has not responded to these allegations but has indicated that a formal statement will be issued soon. This situation has reignited discussions on body image and the need for empowerment within the pageant industry, highlighting the critical importance of fostering a respectful and supportive atmosphere for all contestants. By addressing these issues, the pageant can better align with its mission of promoting female empowerment and national pride.
