Michigan State is gearing up to bring in Alabama’s quarterbacks coach, Nick Sheridan, as its new offensive coordinator, according to report by On3’s Pete Nakos. Notably, Sheridan has also been serving as the co-offensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide.

Sheridan joined Alabama in 2024 as the offensive coordinator and transitioned to co-offensive duties this season upon Ryan Grubb’s arrival in Tuscaloosa. His coaching career includes a stint at Washington as the tight ends coach, working alongside Kalen DeBoer, and a significant tenure at Indiana from 2017 to 2021.

A Michigan graduate, Sheridan began his coaching journey in nearby Saline, Michigan, in 2010. After a successful season as quarterbacks coach there, he advanced to college football as a graduate assistant at Western Kentucky in 2011. By 2013, he was the pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of South Florida, before returning to the SEC as a graduate assistant at Tennessee from 2014 to 2016.

In Indiana, Sheridan initially served as quarterbacks coach before transitioning to tight ends coach in 2019, shortly after DeBoer joined the staff. He later ascended to the role of offensive coordinator from 2020 to 2021 following DeBoer’s departure to Fresno State and continued to work with him at Washington in 2022.

Sheridan’s appointment is a significant step for new head coach Pat Fitzgerald, marking a high-profile addition to the Spartans’ coaching staff as he embarks on his first season at Michigan State. Alongside Sheridan’s hiring, the Spartans are also set to welcome LeVar Woods, Iowa’s special teams coordinator, who will serve as MSU’s special teams coordinator and assistant head coach after fulfilling his commitments with Iowa during the bowl game.

Kirk Ferentz, head coach at Iowa, expressed his congratulations to Woods on his decision to join Michigan State, highlighting Woods’ invaluable contributions as both a player and a leader since Ferentz’s arrival in 1998. This personnel move reflects the Spartans’ commitment to enhancing their coaching framework and building a competitive program moving forward.
