Meghan Trainor’s Health Comeback Sparked by Gestational Diabetes

Meghan Trainor recently opened up about her transformative weight loss journey, revealing how her diagnosis of gestational diabetes during pregnancy sparked her commitment to health and fitness. In an interview with KIIS FM on November 20, the 31-year-old singer reflected on her motivations for achieving a healthier lifestyle, emphasizing her desire to be the strongest version of herself for her children and her music career.

Trainor shared that the public’s reactions to her 60-pound weight loss have been mixed, saying the attention was both surprising and overwhelming. “Everyone’s just being like, ‘Why are you thin now?’ Like, ‘You were ‘All About That Bass’ girl,’” she recalled, noting that the song was released when she was just 19 years old. The singer explained that her journey towards fitness became paramount after her gestational diabetes diagnosis, stating, “I had to learn about health and fitness.”

Her focus on well-being is not only directed towards her own health but also aimed at ensuring she can support her active lifestyle as a touring artist and mother. “If I want to tour forever, I got to be at my strongest,” Trainor emphasized, pointing out the importance of maintaining her physical condition to care for her children, including her youngest son, Barry, and elder son, Riley.

In addition to strength training three times a week, Trainor mentioned that she is now keenly attuned to her overall health, monitoring factors like her hormones and gut health to feel her best. Despite encountering criticism regarding her weight loss journey, which she made public earlier this year when she began taking the medication Mounjaro, she remains focused on her goal of being healthy for both herself and her family.

“I’ve been on a journey to be the healthiest, strongest version of myself for my kids and for me,” she expressed, appreciating the support she received through science and professional guidance after welcoming her second child.

Trainor’s commitment to her health coincides with the release of her latest single, “Still Don’t Care,” part of her upcoming album titled Toy with Me. She describes the song as a reflection of her journey, intended to serve as a form of therapy and a way to combat negativity she has faced.

With a positive outlook on her experiences, Trainor continues to inspire others through her honesty about the challenges and triumphs of motherhood and personal health. Her unwavering dedication to self-improvement highlights the importance of prioritizing health for both oneself and one’s family.
