ANDOVER, MA — John Beccia, a newcomer to politics and a lawyer from Lynnfield, has announced that his congressional campaign is reporting $1 million in cash on hand after its initial fundraising quarter. This impressive total comprises a combination of contributions from donors and a personal investment from Beccia himself, highlighting his commitment to the race.
Beccia’s announcement comes amid a competitive Democratic primary in Massachusetts’ 6th Congressional District, where several candidates are making considerable strides in fundraising. As previously noted, two candidates with strong ties to Andover are in the mix: Dan Koh, a former member of the Andover Select Board, and Tram Nguyen, who represents parts of Andover on Beacon Hill.
Koh is currently regarded as a frontrunner, having already surpassed the $1 million mark early in his campaign, thereby establishing a formidable financial presence. Nguyen is also catching attention as she intensifies her campaign efforts, along with other Democratic candidates from the North Shore area.
With his campaign platform focusing on economic issues that affect families in the North Shore, Beccia emphasizes challenges such as rising costs, educational opportunities, and economic growth. He has expressed a strong belief that voters are seeking “an outsider with fresh ideas,” indicating that he views his campaign as gaining traction.
Given the strongly Democratic leanings of the MA-6 district, the primary winner will likely have a significant advantage in the general election. Early fundraising efforts and public recognition will be crucial as the race unfolds.
