U.S. stock markets, including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq, will resume normal trading hours on Friday, January 2, 2026, following the New Year’s Day holiday closure. On this day, trading will take place from 9:30 a.m. ET to 4 p.m. ET, continuing the regular schedule, including early and late trading sessions.

The U.S. bond market, which had closed early on Wednesday and remained closed through New Year’s Day, will also open at its usual times on January 2. Furthermore, over-the-counter trading will operate as scheduled for the day.

Looking ahead, the next U.S. market holiday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, when trading will be suspended on Monday, January 19, 2026. Other significant holidays throughout the year include Washington’s Birthday on February 16, Good Friday on April 3, Memorial Day on May 25, and Independence Day (observed) on July 3.

While U.S. markets are ready to trade, international markets are also in operation. The London Stock Exchange, EuroNext, and Hong Kong Stock Exchange will be open during normal trading hours, although the Tokyo Stock Exchange will remain closed until further notice.
