Lindsay Lohan is making a noteworthy comeback in Hollywood, having reinvented herself as a wife, mother, and resident of Dubai. In a candid interview featured in the March 2026 issue of Vogue Arabia, the actress reflects on her turbulent teen years that paved the way for a troubled adulthood marked by arrests and legal issues.
During her conversation with writer Christine Van Deemter, Lohan expressed her lingering questions about those formative years, specifically wondering why no one intervened to protect her. “You don’t know how to do that yourself when you’re a teenager,” she confessed.
After gaining fame as a child star in the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap, Lohan’s career flourished with hit films like Freaky Friday, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Mean Girls, and Herbie: Fully Loaded. However, alongside her rising stardom came the pressures and pitfalls of Hollywood. She shared her experiences of feeling overwhelmed by the demands of fame and her tumultuous lifestyle in Los Angeles, where she initially lived without parental guidance. “It was all so overwhelming and consuming,” Lohan recalled.
Recognizing the impact of her environment, she mentioned a pivotal decision: “I should have listened to my mom and dad and moved back to New York.” Instead, she remained in L.A., often in the throes of fun yet grappling with difficulties that were a “double-edged sword.”
Her journey led Lohan to step back from the spotlight. “I wasn’t having fun in the business anymore,” she admitted. Seeking a more fulfilling life, she relocated to Dubai in 2014, where she met her husband, Bader Shammas, and welcomed their son, Luai. “Being in Dubai is very grounding. I get to just spend time with my family. The city gives me a sense of being with what’s most important,” she explained.
Lohan’s new chapter includes a return to acting, as she gears up for a role in Hulu’s miniseries Count My Lies alongside Shailene Woodley and Kit Harington. Reflecting on her growth, she noted, “With age comes a different kind of confidence,” acknowledging that she now feels more comfortable expressing her artistic vision.
