Former Lautoka Football Association Acting President Faiaaz Ali has taken action following the unauthorized public circulation of an internal email, which he believes breaches confidentiality. The email appeared on the Facebook pages of Fiji Sports News and Fiji Exposed Forum, prompting Ali to report the leak to the Police and the Online Safety Commission.

The content of the leaked email was directed towards Ali, requesting a comprehensive account of financial records from his term as Acting President, spanning from April 29 to May 23, 2025. According to the Lautoka Football Association, there have been numerous attempts to reach Ali via emails and phone calls to obtain specifics on the income and expenditure incurred during his presidency, yet they have reportedly not received the necessary information.

The association emphasized that this delay in financial reporting is hampering preparations for the upcoming financial audit scheduled for the year 2025 and poses a risk of postponing their Annual General Meeting, set to take place next month. The letter issued as part of these communications gives Ali a week to provide a detailed income and expenditure statement, along with the relevant supporting documents such as receipts and executive meeting minutes that authorized expenditures during his term.

Additionally, the letter seeks clarification on any loans taken out in the name of the Lautoka FA, along with details about donations collected using the association’s letterhead and the proceeds from the online sale of Lautoka FA merchandise, which the association asserts have not been received.

In a statement to the media, Ali expressed his concerns over the email’s unintended public exposure, insisting it was not intended for public view. He also raised questions regarding the implications and timing of the claims mentioned in the correspondence, indicating he is prepared to address the matter with the relevant authorities.

This incident highlights ongoing challenges within sports organizations regarding transparency and accountability, emphasizing the need for clear communication and adherence to proper protocols to avoid similar situations in the future.
