Landman Season 2 Teases Electric On-Set Chemistry Between Thornton and Larter

Billy Bob Thornton has shared that his experiences filming scenes with co-star Ali Larter on the Paramount neo-Western drama series “Landman” have stirred memories from his past. At the age of 70, Thornton plays Tommy Norris, a veteran crisis manager and Vice President of Operations at M-Tex Oil, while Larter portrays his volatile ex-wife, Angela Norris, in a role characterized by her fiery personality.

In an interview with People, Thornton described his collaborative moments with Larter as consistently enjoyable. He remarked, “Every time we do scenes together, it’s just a load of fun.” Their dynamic shines particularly in scenes that feature high energy and humor, such as one where Larter’s character dramatically tosses plates of pasta in response to a comment made by Thornton’s character.

Reflecting on these lively interactions, Thornton humorously noted that they remind him of his own colorful past, which includes multiple marriages. “I get flashbacks from my past, every now and then, from various times of my life. Oh yeah,” he remarked, highlighting the chaotic nature of some scenes that resonated with his real-life experiences.

Thornton expressed that he felt an immediate “natural chemistry” with Larter from the outset of their collaboration, stating, “Automatically, Ali and I were just passionate friends.” He also discussed his protective feelings towards Michelle Randolph, who plays the couple’s daughter, Ainsley, in the series. Thornton pointed out that both Larter and Randolph share similarities, making working alongside them engaging and fulfilling.

Larter also praised Thornton in a previous interview, acknowledging his talent and the genuine connection they share on set. “I get to work, I think, next to one of the best actors working in our business,” she said, emphasizing the authenticity and depth their performances create together.

New episodes of “Landman” season 2 are currently rolling out on Paramount+. The first two episodes, titled “Death and a Sunset” and “Sins of the Father,” have been released, with the next episode, “Almost a Home,” scheduled for airing on Sunday, November 30. Fans of the series can look forward to more vibrant storytelling and character dynamics in the coming episodes.
