Charlotte Hornets rookie Kon Knueppel made history by becoming the fastest player in NBA history to score 100 three-pointers during a closely contested game that ended in a 139-132 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 20-year-old, who was selected fourth overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, reached this remarkable milestone in just 29 games, breaking the previous record of 41 games held by Lauri Markkanen during his time with the Chicago Bulls in the 2017-18 season.
In the game at Rocket Arena, Knueppel showcased his shooting prowess by making five out of nine attempts from beyond the arc, finishing the night with 20 points. He was supported by LaMelo Ball, who contributed 23 points, and Brandon Miller, who added another 20 for the Hornets.
Despite Knueppel’s record-setting performance, the Cavaliers pulled off the victory, led by Donovan Mitchell’s impressive 30 points. DeAndre Hunter and Darius Garland also shone for the Cavaliers, scoring 27 points each, with Garland contributing 10 assists as well.
As the season progresses, the Hornets find themselves in 12th place in the Eastern Conference, while the Cavaliers are currently positioned in 7th. Knueppel’s achievement serves as a promising highlight for the Hornets amidst their struggles this season, offering fans a glimpse of the team’s potential for the future.
