Kinoya’s Heartland Sisters Light Up Central Community Games Netball Debut

The Heartland Sisters netball team from Kinoya kicked off the Central Community Games on a high note, securing a victory against Caubati with a score of 15-9. The match took place at the National Netball Centre in Laucala, and the young team’s performance highlighted their skill and determination.

Team manager Eleni Kataduadua expressed her pride in the girls’ impressive showing, particularly given the limited time they had to form as a team. “The girls really did well on the court; we had less time to form the team but I’m thankful for the girls’ hard work in getting the win,” she commented.

With a roster filled with young talent, Kataduadua emphasized the significance of providing these players with opportunities for growth. She believes that participating in events like the Central Community Games can be pivotal for their development and future aspirations of representing the national team. “We have a young side; it’s all about learning and growing. With a young team, we need to get them exposed, and maybe one day they will wear the national jersey and represent the country,” she stated.

Despite facing a challenging opponent in Caubati, the Heartland Sisters maintained their composure and resilience throughout the match. Kataduadua praised her team’s ability to manage the pressure and stay focused, leading to their victory.

Looking forward, she pointed out the areas that require improvement, especially regarding ball work, but she is optimistic about the girls’ capabilities and their potential for future success. She also expressed her appreciation for the unwavering support from the team’s supporters and parents.

As the competition wraps up today, there is a sense of anticipation for what lies ahead for the aspiring athletes and their journey in netball. The Heartland Sisters’ performance not only reflects their hard work but also embodies the spirit of growth and athletic excellence within the community.
