Prime Video is set to expand its collaboration with bestselling author John Grisham with a new television adaptation of his 2022 novel, The Boys From Biloxi. This follows the successful USA Network series The Rainmaker and the forthcoming film adaptation of The Partner, which will be directed by Jason Bateman.
The Boys From Biloxi, described as a gripping family crime drama, focuses on the tumultuous relationship between two childhood friends: one serves as a prosecutor while the other is a mob heir. Their paths become increasingly intertwined due to the legacies of their fathers and the impact on their community. The project is being developed by Patrick Macmanus, known for his work on Hulu’s The Girl From Plainville. He will oversee the adaptation and serve as the executive producer through his company, Littleton Road Productions. Universal Studio Group’s UCP will produce the series.
In addition to Macmanus, several notable figures are involved in the project as non-writing executive producers, including Jenna Bush Hager and Ben Spector from Thousand Voices, as well as Grisham and David Gernert. Hager was instrumental in bringing The Boys From Biloxi to UCP, which has a first-look deal with the production entity.
This development comes on the heels of Grisham’s The Rainmaker, which has garnered impressive viewership, averaging 1.3 million total viewers and being recognized as USA Network’s most-viewed freshman series in seven years. The series has even secured a renewal for a second season set to premiere in 2026, reflecting its strong audience engagement.
Meanwhile, at Universal, Bateman is preparing for his third feature as a director with another Grisham adaptation, The Partner. He will also be producing alongside Michael Costigan, with Tom Holland slated to produce and potentially star in the film.
As Grisham continues to capture the interest of both readers and viewers with his compelling narratives, the anticipation surrounding these new adaptations highlights his enduring appeal in the world of storytelling.
