The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially extended the contract of offensive lineman Cole Van Lanen. The deal, confirmed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, spans three years and is valued at $51 million, with $32.5 million guaranteed. With performance incentives, the contract could potentially rise to $55.5 million.

Van Lanen, who was set to enter free agency this upcoming offseason, has become a key component of the Jaguars’ offense throughout the season. Prior to the regular season, the Jaguars’ new management made it clear that they valued Van Lanen, as demonstrated by their decision to retain him as a restricted free agent.

His versatility has proven invaluable amidst various injuries within the offensive line, as he has effectively stepped in at multiple positions. This season alone, Van Lanen has accumulated 300 snaps at left tackle, 72 at left guard, 46 at right guard, and 133 at right tackle, with at least one start at each position. Recently, he has settled into the left tackle role, which appears to be a likely permanent position moving forward.

This contract extension follows closely after the Jaguars also secured wide receiver Jakobi Meyers with a new deal, reflecting the team’s commitment to enhancing its roster and ensuring stability in key areas as they aim for future success.
