Is Kyler Murray Returning This Season? Cardinals Weigh Rehab Progress

Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon provided an update on quarterback Kyler Murray on Monday, noting that Murray is “working hard to get healthy.” Gannon emphasized Murray’s commitment to his recovery, stating, “He’s in every meeting. He’s engaged. He’s rehabbing a boat load of time in there.”

Murray has been out of action since Week 5 due to a mid-foot sprain. The Cardinals chose not to place him on injured reserve until just before their Week 10 game against the Seahawks, which means he will not be eligible to return until at least December 7, when the Cardinals face the Rams.

Despite his determination to return, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Murray is not expected to start again this season unless current starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett faces an injury. Brissett has performed admirably in the meantime, throwing for 1,887 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions over six games since Murray’s injury. Consequently, when Murray is cleared to play, he may assume a backup role for the remainder of the season.

Murray’s dedication to his rehabilitation and active participation in team meetings demonstrate his commitment to returning to the field, offering hope for a positive outcome as he continues to focus on his health.
