Influencer Peighton Tubre took to Instagram on November 5 to clarify swirling rumors about her relationship with LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. The speculation arose after reports suggested they were seen entering a hotel room together ahead of one of his games.

Tubre, who has gained a significant following for her commentary on football, directly addressed the claims in a video on her Instagram. She recounted her initial reaction to a Facebook article that indicated an affair, stating that it had only garnered 30 likes at first. “I didn’t initially respond because I didn’t want to bring attention to it,” she said. Her hope was that the rumors would fade away, but she soon discovered that the story had garnered substantial attention, prompting messages from fans and family alike.

The situation escalated further when Tubre was confronted with accusations that Nussmeier had sent her unsolicited and uncomfortable photos, which she vehemently denied. “If you follow me, you know that I didn’t post anything like that,” she stated firmly, labeling the rumors as completely unfounded. “It’s just fake,” she concluded, putting an end to the speculation.

Adding a touch of humor to the situation, Tubre posted a follow-up video on TikTok, lip-syncing to a popular audio clip from former LSU head coach Brian Kelly, who remarked on the recurrence of certain topics, overlaying it with the text, “When they post another fake article about me & Garrett Nussmeier.”

Nussmeier, who became engaged to his girlfriend Ella Springfield earlier this year, remains focused on his relationship and football career, as the couple shared their happy news in a joint Instagram announcement over the summer.

The incident highlights the challenges public figures face with misinformation and the impacts of social media in amplifying unfounded rumors.
