Nadroga’s senior men’s rugby team is set to be featured in an exciting new television series titled “House of Rugby,” which will document their preparations for the highly anticipated Skipper Cup competition. Produced by New Fossil Productions, the series aims to offer viewers a unique insight into the dedication and effort the team invests as they prepare for one of Fiji’s most prestigious rugby tournaments.
Director and co-producer Blair Robertson shared that Nadroga’s selection for the series is rooted in the team’s rich history and formidable legacy within the Skipper Cup. He indicated that while they are still fine-tuning the show’s structure, they have developed a solid blueprint. Filming is slated to commence as early as next week, leading up to the next year’s Skipper Cup.
Robertson, who has strong ties to local rugby and an impressive filmmaking career, brings a personal perspective to the series. Raised in Fiji and now living in Naboutini, Serua, he has a deep understanding of the sport, thanks to his father’s involvement in coaching Suva during the 1970s, as well as his own experiences playing both locally and abroad.
The series promises not only to showcase the challenges the team faces but also to resonate with fans by revealing the emotional and physical journeys of the players. As anticipation builds for this debut, “House of Rugby” is expected to celebrate and elevate the spirit of rugby in Fiji, enhancing appreciation for the sport among its enthusiasts.
