Hayley Williams Sets Inclusive Solo Tour Rule: No Racists, Sexists, or Transphobes Welcome

Hayley Williams, the frontwoman of Paramore, has made it clear that she will not tolerate racist, sexist, or anti-trans individuals at her upcoming solo tour. Following the announcement of her tour dates earlier this month, which garnered significant demand leading to an extension, Williams expressed her commitment to inclusivity, inviting everyone to “feel welcome to the party.”

In an interview with Clash, Williams articulated her stance unequivocally: “I don’t want racists around, and I don’t want sexist people around, and I don’t want people there who think that trans people are a burden.” She emphasized that she hopes those with harmful ideologies will recognize that they are not welcome in her space, stating, “All are welcome if you believe all should be welcome… If you don’t believe that, you’re not welcome!”

Williams has a strong history of advocating for equality. Recently, she criticized the Tennessee Republican leadership, denouncing what she described as their blatant racism. She pledged that both she and Paramore would continue to encourage young people to engage in the political process with equality in mind.

The singer also touched on her reluctance to play guitar on stage, citing the fear of receiving sexist comments, a sentiment she previously shared in an interview with the band Wet Leg. Williams expressed frustration over the need to highlight the issue of sexism in music, saying that her gender shouldn’t overshadow her artistry.

In addition, Williams defended her choices when she faced backlash for postponing Paramore shows due to illness, condemning what she calls the misguided perceptions of “internet bros” who misconstrue her actions.

The tour will support her latest solo album, “Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party,” which has received critical acclaim and four Grammy nominations, including Best Alternative Music Album. With five-star reviews praising her new direction, Williams is not only making waves with her music but also fostering a community that stands against discrimination and promotes a positive message of inclusivity.

As Williams prepares to embark on her tour starting March 27 in Atlanta, fans can look forward to an event that prioritizes acceptance and community.
