As the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team prepares to take the field for the Vancouver 7s starting tomorrow, their primary focus is on maintaining concentration and alignment with their goals. Head coach Richie Walker has emphasized the importance of resilience as the team navigates through the varying outcomes they have experienced in their recent matches.

During a virtual press conference from Canada, Walker addressed the team’s performance, recognizing that the challenges faced can impact the players emotionally. “The key focus is around that and to support the girls because we know when you get into these stages and we don’t get the outcomes that we’re really looking for, it probably affects the players the most,” he remarked.

The Fijiana team has faced difficulties, finishing in seventh to eighth place in various legs of the 2025/26 HSBC Sevens World Series (SVNS). As they gear up for their next challenge, Walker highlighted the importance of maintaining high spirits among the players. “We’re constantly reminding them that there are only a few key areas and moments that will make us not be in those positions and help us achieve better results,” he explained.

An optimistic atmosphere pervades the camp, bolstered by the strong camaraderie among the players. This bond is a crucial element in their pursuit of success as they look to redeem themselves in the upcoming tournament. With a focus on building on their strengths and keeping a positive mindset, the Fijiana team is determined to seize the opportunity in Vancouver.
