In discussion of academic progress, elementary curriculum staff presented various math-focused initiatives designed to enhance learning. Key developments included a revised math pacing guide created in conjunction with teacher committees, the introduction of two common assessments for grades 3 and 5, and plans for similar assessments in K–2. Staff also shared details about a standards continuum that highlights priority standards on report cards. Ongoing foundational numeracy work with GREC/CREC teams, increased use of manipulatives in teaching, and the implementation of revamped interventions (MTSS/RTI) aimed at automatically enrolling students who meet specific criteria into targeted support programs have all contributed to improving test scores.
The presenters noted that these initiatives have led to enhanced academic performance across multiple subjects in the district, with improvements in test scores attributed to the consistent application of these strategies. Board members expressed their gratitude to the presenters for their contributions and recognized the district’s ongoing efforts in enhancing instruction and assessment methods.
