Frontier Airlines Budget Flight Delivers Surprises, Backed by WalletHub’s 2025 Safety Rank

Traveling with Frontier Airlines can require some trade-offs, but for many, the experience can be surprisingly smooth. This was the case for first-time flyer Manseen Logan, who sought an affordable way to travel from Georgia to New Jersey. Though skeptical at first, Logan found that the airline’s prices and service exceeded her expectations.

Frontier Airlines, often criticized for its lack of comfort, nevertheless ranked as the second-safest airline of 2025 according to WalletHub. This ranking is a promising sign for travelers concerned about safety. After consulting friends and family about their experiences with Frontier, Logan settled on a $112 round-trip ticket from Atlanta to Newark Liberty International Airport.

Upon visiting Frontier’s website, Logan quickly noticed the cost-saving features come with the sacrifice of certain amenities. The ticket she initially found was just the beginning, as additional charges awaited for everything from carry-on bags to seat selection. Instead of opting for a pricier bundle, which would have totaled around $220—similar to her usual Delta flight—she decided to stick with the basic offering.

Logan faced the inevitable discomfort of cramped seating, especially during a two-hour flight. Despite the small seats that did not recline, the flight itself was reportedly smooth, easing some of her initial apprehensions. She had planned her personal item—consisting of clothes and toiletries crammed into a child’s backpack—strategically to fit Frontier’s measurements, and it ultimately passed inspection at the gate.

Boarding went smoothly, but Logan noted a lack of prompts from flight attendants, which is relatively uncommon in commercial air travel. Nonetheless, the overall customer service from gate agents and flight attendants appeared friendly, even if their casual demeanor was unexpected.

In the end, Logan concluded that while Frontier may not be her first choice for flying, it served its purpose as a budget-friendly option, especially during financially strained times. Many travelers are facing similar decisions in today’s economy, and for those prioritizing cost over comfort, Frontier Airlines might just fit the bill.
