In a recent episode of the Star Wars Sessions podcast, Joplin Sibtain discussed his role as Brasso in the Disney+ series Andor, detailing the intriguing casting journey that brought him to the character. Initially, the role was slated for Rory McCann, known for his memorable performance as Sandor “The Hound” Clegane in Game of Thrones. However, McCann faced a serious injury that prevented him from continuing in the role.

Sibtain shared, “He just had a limp and he went to work. They did a scan on it and the consultant said, ‘If you don’t have this operated on, you’re going to not be able to walk.’” This unfortunate turn of events opened the door for Sibtain, who then auditioned and was subsequently cast as Brasso. “They reshot it. They did a lot with The Hound’s face, they had to superimpose my face on [him],” said Sibtain, illustrating the behind-the-scenes efforts taken to integrate him into the series.

In another interesting twist of fate, Rory McCann has found a new role in the Star Wars universe as Baylan Skoll in the Ahsoka series, taking over from the late Ray Stevenson. Fans can catch up on the first season of Ahsoka on Disney+ while eagerly anticipating its second season.

This journey not only showcases the unpredictable nature of casting in the entertainment industry but also highlights how new opportunities can arise from unexpected circumstances. As we look forward to more content from the Star Wars universe, the evolving storylines and character portrayals continue to captivate audiences.
