Fiji weightlifter Taniela Rainibogi has made his ambitions clear as he gears up for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, stating, “I want gold this time around.” After achieving a bronze medal in the men’s 96kg event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England, Rainibogi is determined to rise to the top of the podium this year.

Currently, he is engaged in a rigorous six-week training camp in Samoa, honing his skills and building endurance in anticipation of the upcoming games. The 2026 Commonwealth Games will take place from July 23 to August 2, and Rainibogi’s commitment and determination highlight the hopeful spirit of athletes aiming for excellence on an international stage. His journey reflects not only personal ambition but also the pride and aspirations of Fijian sports on a global level.
