Fijian Engineers Power UAE Aerospace Growth

Fijian professionals are increasingly making their mark in the aerospace sector of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), exemplifying the growing influence and skills of Fiji’s workforce in high-tech industries. President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, during a visit to United Design and Solutions Aerospace DWC-LLC (UUDS Aero) in Dubai, emphasized the significance of this trend. Accompanied by First Lady Emily Lalabalavu, the President noted that UUDS Aero employs over 30 Fijian staff members, showcasing their capabilities in advanced technical and engineering roles.

During his tour, President Lalabalavu lauded the resilience, discipline, and teamwork of Fijians, highlighting their ability to master complex aeronautical and manufacturing tasks despite some lacking formal technical qualifications. He extended his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the support extended to Fijian workers in the UAE and acknowledged Fiji’s Ambassador to the UAE, Siddiq Koya, for his efforts in enhancing bilateral relations and supporting Fijians abroad.

UUDS Aero CEO Manoj Bogoda praised the Fijian employees for their exceptional skills and work ethic, which have become integral to the company’s culture. He reiterated plans to expand partnerships with Fiji through employment and scholarship programs, further contributing to the development of Fiji’s technical workforce while strengthening labor cooperation between the two nations.

This cooperative spirit reflects a broader trend of collaboration between Fiji and the UAE, illustrated by the recent announcement of the UAE’s intention to establish an embassy in Suva. Such diplomatic developments signal a robust commitment to strengthening ties, fostering investment opportunities, and supporting Fijian nationals in various sectors, particularly in aviation.

Overall, this positive engagement highlights the potential for Fiji to emerge as a key player in international markets, with its skilled professionals able to bridge gaps in high-demand sectors like aerospace. The collaboration is a hopeful reminder of the power of international partnerships in driving economic growth and development, as both nations work towards shared goals of sustainable progress and mutual prosperity.
