Fiji’s men’s rugby sevens captain, Jerry Matana, has expressed pride in his team’s resilience and growth following their recent back-to-back victories at the Singapore 7s tournament, where they triumphed over France with a score of 21–12 in the final. This win not only marks Fiji’s second consecutive title at the Singapore leg but also propels them to the top of the World Series standings with 52 points.

Matana reflected on the journey to this victory, commending his players for their ability to rebound after experiencing earlier challenges in the series. He emphasized their determination and hard work despite conceding points to teams like South Africa. “I’m so proud of the boys, and I want to thank the boys for their hard work and their striving to do after conceding a few points to South Africa and the other teams. We came back; we came back stronger,” Matana stated.

The Singapore leg has proven to be a favorable venue for Fiji, and Matana acknowledged the team’s fondness for competing there. “Of course, like I said in a press conference, we love playing in Singapore,” he remarked.

Looking ahead, Fiji will prepare for a challenging tournament in Perth this weekend, where they will face formidable opponents including Spain, Argentina, and South Africa. Rugby fans can catch all of Fiji’s matches live on FBC TV.

This victorious streak highlights Fiji’s tenacity and ability to overcome obstacles, fueling hopes for continued success in the upcoming tournaments.
