NEW ORLEANS – In an exciting matchup on Friday night, the New Orleans Pelicans triumphed over the Memphis Grizzlies with a score of 114-106. Led by the impressive performances of Saddiq Bey and Derik Queen, who each contributed 22 points, and Zion Williamson, who added 21 points, the Pelicans showcased their offensive depth.

Williamson’s performance marked his fourth consecutive game scoring over 20 points, while Herb Jones also stepped up with 16 points, aiding the Pelicans in raising their record to 13-37.

On the other side, Memphis struggled without their star guard Ja Morant, who has been sidelined for four straight games due to a sprained left elbow. Morant, who last took the court on January 21 against Atlanta, has missed a total of 25 games this season. Despite the absence of their leading player, the Grizzlies fought hard, with Jaren Jackson, Jr. and Cam Spencer each contributing 16 points, alongside Cedric Coward’s 13 points and Jock Landale’s 12.

A pivotal moment in the game came during the third quarter when the Pelicans launched a remarkable offensive surge, outscoring the Grizzlies 35-15. Highlighting this period, the Pelicans hit five 3-pointers, including three by Jose Alvarado, while their defense stifled the Grizzlies, resulting in one of Memphis’s lowest-scoring quarters of the season.

Looking ahead, the Grizzlies will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves at home on Saturday night, while the Pelicans are set to face off against the Philadelphia 76ers on the road.
