Fiji Unveils Vigimobile for Real-Time Vaccine Safety Reporting

Fiji Rolls Out Vigimobile: Real-Time Vaccine Safety Reporting Goes Digital

Fiji has launched the Vigimobile App, a significant development aimed at improving the reporting and monitoring of adverse events following immunization throughout the country. This cutting-edge digital platform replaces the outdated paper-based systems, allowing healthcare professionals in both urban and remote areas to report real-time data concerning the safety of drugs and vaccines.

Dr. Luisa Cikamatana, Chief Medical Advisor, emphasized that this initiative reflects a strong partnership between the Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization, and various governmental agencies. She noted that comprehensive national training for medical staff will be organized to ensure effective and efficient use of the app.

Sophie Genay-Diliautas, the Deputy WHO Representative to the South Pacific, highlighted the regional significance of the Vigimobile App. This advancement represents a significant step in Fiji’s commitment to enhancing public health and ensuring patient safety. By enabling quicker responses to post-immunization concerns, the app is poised to substantially improve healthcare monitoring and promote the overall wellbeing of the population.

Previous initiatives like the Sova Ni Bula app have also showcased Fiji’s commitment to innovative healthcare solutions. Launched to enhance the management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), the Sova Ni Bula app features offline capabilities and GIS-driven health trend analyses. Both applications signify a broader positive trend in utilizing technology to tackle healthcare challenges, improve patient outcomes, and elevate the overall quality of care in Fiji.

As Fiji continues to invest in digital health innovations, the introduction of the Vigimobile App represents a promising future for healthcare in the nation, empowering healthcare workers and enhancing the safety and health of its citizens. This advancement not only aligns with global health standards but also reinforces Fiji’s role as a leader in prioritizing public health measures.
