The Fijian government is actively monitoring escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Sakiasi Ditoka, has confirmed that Fiji’s diplomatic missions and honorary consuls in the region are in regular contact with local authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of Fijian nationals.

Currently, there are no confirmed reports of Fijians being directly affected by the recent incidents, although many reside and work in Qatar and other Gulf states. As a precautionary measure, the Ministry is reviewing its contingency plans and stands ready to provide consular assistance if necessary.

Fijians living in the region are urged to stay calm, follow official advisories from host governments, and maintain communication with their families back home. Those who have not yet registered with the nearest Fijian mission are encouraged to do so.

Minister Ditoka has reassured families in Fiji that the situation is being closely monitored and that updates will be shared should circumstances change. Fiji continues to advocate for restraint, constructive dialogue, and the peaceful resolution of disputes in accordance with international law. This positive approach emphasizes the importance of diplomacy during challenging times, highlighting Fiji’s commitment to its citizens abroad.
