The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has issued a strong warning to maritime operators, vessel owners, and businesses within port areas regarding any actions that may obstruct FCCC officers in the performance of their duties. The Commission underscored that attempts to hinder their operations will face strict consequences.

The FCCC has the legal jurisdiction to board vessels, access ports, and enter business premises to monitor and enforce regulations related to passenger fares and freight charges, especially during the peak festive travel season. With a notable surge in maritime travel anticipated, FCCC officers have been dispatched to key wharves and ports across the Central and Northern divisions.
