A businessman from Lautoka, Shaneil Suresh Autar, aged 40, has appeared in court after being arrested and re-charged in connection with the alleged export of over 39 kilograms of cocaine to Australia that dates back to 2019. His recent hearing took place at the Nadi Magistrate’s Court, where significant attention surrounds the existing case.

Autar originally faced charges alongside a foreign national in 2019; however, the prosecution was halted at that time following a nolle prosequi filed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. This reversal in the case has brought Autar back to the legal arena as he faces fresh scrutiny.

He is being represented by attorney Mark Anthony from Millbrook Hills Law Partners, while the prosecution is managed by Senior Legal Officer Joeli Nasa. The hearing is currently ongoing, and new developments are anticipated shortly.

This case sheds light on the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies to tackle drug trafficking issues, illustrating the legal complexities and challenges that arise during such prosecutions. The proceedings not only aim to address past events but also to reinforce the message that drug-related offenses will be dealt with seriously, reflecting a commitment to public safety and justice.
