Hugo Oliveira, the head coach of Famalicão, spoke to the press on Saturday as he prepared his team for a challenging match against Sporting at Alvalade, scheduled for 8:30 PM on Sunday for the 22nd round of the I Liga.
In his address, Oliveira acknowledged the significant challenge posed by the reigning national champions, stating, “It will be a difficult game for us at the home of the champions, a very good team that is having a great season and is rightly competing for the title due to the quality of their performance and players. This is another opportunity for us to showcase our playing style and fight for the three points with our ideas. We need to demonstrate talent, humility, and the ambition to take points—if possible, three.”
Oliveira also highlighted the positive progress of Famalicão this season. “The championship we are having is positive, and we must acknowledge those who have been attentive to our team’s development,” he explained. “However, we desire more points and improved performances, and that is what we strive for every day.”
Regarding the absence of Luis Suárez, Oliveira noted, “A club that aims to be champion always has a rich squad filled with talent and alternatives. With or without Suárez, Sporting will be very strong. Whoever plays in his position will respond well. We know we will face difficulties, suffer at times, but we also need the courage to play our game.”
As Famalicão prepares for this crucial encounter, both Oliveira and his team remain hopeful and focused on making an impact in the league. The resilience and ambition displayed by the players reflect their determination to achieve success despite the formidable opposition.
