The Fiji Meteorological Service has announced that Christmas Day is expected to be a pleasant and favorable occasion for families throughout the country. Ideal weather conditions are projected for outdoor gatherings and traditional holiday cooking.

According to the Fiji Met, the weather outlook for Thursday indicates a generally stable atmosphere, with only brief showers anticipated in certain regions. Specific areas such as Eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, Southern Bua, Taveuni, and nearby smaller islands may experience cloudy periods with light showers; however, this weather is not expected to dampen the Christmas spirit.

For central and southern regions, including Serua–Namosi, Navua–Suva–Nausori, Tailevu–Naitasiri–Ra, alongside Kadavu, Lau, and the Lomaiviti groups, partly cloudy conditions combined with brief showers are forecasted. The Fiji Met service highlighted that these weather conditions are particularly suitable for traditional Christmas preparations, such as lovo cooking, urging families to plan their activities in advance.

“It’s a wonderful day to prepare the lovo and palusami, but as always, it’s advisable to start early, as a quick festive shower may occur in the afternoon,” the Fiji Met advised.

With the weather looking promising, families across Fiji can enjoy the holiday season with joy and celebration, making it a memorable Christmas filled with traditional festivities.
