A heavy rain alert has been issued for the entire Fiji Group due to a persistent trough of low pressure causing overcast conditions and rainfall expected to continue into the upcoming week. The Fiji Meteorological Service warns of occasional rain, which could turn heavy at times, with isolated thunderstorms likely through midnight tonight.

The regions most affected include the interior and northern areas of Vanua Levu, particularly Bua, Lekutu, Dreketi, Seaqaqa, Labasa, Namuka, and Udu Point. Similarly, the interior, western, and northern parts of Viti Levu will also experience significant rainfall, especially from Momi through Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, and Ra, as well as the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups.

In addition, occasional rain accompanied by thunderstorms is anticipated across other regions, with particularly heavy downpours expected in the afternoons or evenings. There are warnings that persistent heavy rainfall may result in flash flooding, especially in low-lying areas.

Looking ahead to Monday, the forecast remains similar, with occasional rain predicted to persist in most areas, and the risk of flash flooding in vulnerable regions will continue to be a concern. Residents are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions as the weather situation unfolds.
