Fiji Airways is set to introduce new safety protocols regarding the use and transportation of portable power banks, effective January 19, 2026, for all flights operated by Fiji Airways and Fiji Link. Under this updated policy, passengers will be prohibited from using portable power banks while on board and from including them in checked luggage.

Instead, travelers are required to keep their power banks solely in cabin baggage and must store them in the seat pocket for easier access, rather than in overhead compartments. This policy revision is part of Fiji Airways’ commitment to enhancing passenger safety and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

The airline emphasizes that safety remains its highest priority. A spokesperson for Fiji Airways remarked, “These updated measures reflect our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aviation operations.” The decision follows a comprehensive review of current protocols concerning portable electronic devices, in line with the regulations set by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) regarding dangerous goods.

By implementing these restrictions, Fiji Airways seeks to proactively manage potential safety risks and adhere to global best practices in aviation safety. The airline advises passengers to check its website for a complete list of restricted items and stay updated on these policy changes, which will be communicated effectively during check-in and around airport terminals starting on the designated date.

This initiative signifies a crucial step in the airline’s ongoing efforts to enhance safety and operational standards, further strengthening its reputation as a world-class carrier committed to the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew.
