Authorities have charged William Stevenson, the ex-husband of former First Lady Jill Biden, with first-degree murder in the death of his current wife, Linda Stevenson. The accusations follow a domestic dispute reported on the night of December 28, 2025, at their home in New Castle County, Delaware.

New Castle County Police arrived at the residence on Idlewood Road shortly after receiving the call around 11:16 p.m. Upon entering the home, they found the 64-year-old Linda Stevenson unresponsive in the living room. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but she was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an extensive investigation that lasted several weeks, authorities arrested the 77-year-old William Stevenson, who was taken into custody without incident at their home. He was subsequently arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and is currently held at the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to post bail set at $500,000.

Jill Biden and Bill Stevenson were married in February 1970 when she was just 18 years old, and their marriage lasted five years until they divorced in May 1975. Jill Biden later married Joe Biden in June 1977. Notably, the obituary for Linda Stevenson did not include any mention of Bill Stevenson.

As this tragic story unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the critical need for support services focused on domestic violence, highlighting the importance of community awareness and prevention initiatives.
