Edgecombe Questionable, Embiid Out as Sixers Brace for Heat

The Philadelphia 76ers have released their injury report ahead of Sunday’s afternoon matchup against the Miami Heat, revealing a mix of anticipated and surprising absences.

The most unexpected name on the list is rookie VJ Edgecombe, who is questionable for the game due to tightness in his left calf. Edgecombe, a 2025 No. 3 overall pick, has made significant contributions to the team, averaging 37.4 minutes per game this season, the second highest in the NBA, just behind teammate Tyrese Maxey, who leads with 40.7 minutes.

Kelly Oubre Jr. is among the players already ruled out, as he continues to recover from an LCL sprain in his left knee. His absence was expected given the nature of his injury.

Joel Embiid remains sidelined due to soreness in his right knee, missing his seventh consecutive game on Sunday. While deemed day-to-day, doctors indicated he requires additional time for recovery. Embiid has not played since November 8.

Additionally, Adem Bona is still unavailable after spraining his ankle last week. Though he has begun on-court activities, the team announced he will miss at least two more games, with a re-evaluation planned soon.

The Miami Heat are also struggling with injuries as they prepare for Sunday’s game. Tyler Herro is out following ankle surgery, while Nikola Jovic and Andrew Wiggins will also miss the contest due to a hip impingement and hip flexor strain, respectively. Norman Powell is listed as probable with hip irritation. Meanwhile, Terry Rozier is not with the team.

The Sixers and Heat are set to tip off on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, as both teams cope with their respective injury challenges. Fans will be eager to see how the absence of key players will affect the dynamics of this matchup.
