The first round of competition at the Indian Wells Masters is set to conclude on Thursday, featuring a notable matchup between Grigor Dimitrov and Terence Atmane. Additionally, Delray Beach champion Sebastian Korda will take on Francisco Comesana.

The upcoming clash between Dimitrov and Atmane marks their second consecutive tournament encounter. The two players have evenly split their prior meetings; Dimitrov emerged victorious with a score of 7-6(3), 6-3 during the 2024 Rome Masters, while Atmane claimed his win last week in Acapulco, defeating Dimitrov 6-3, 6-3.

However, Dimitrov may be poised to reclaim his winning form. As he continues to recover from his infamous pectoral injury sustained during the 2025 Wimbledon against Jannik Sinner, his performance has steadily improved. The 34-year-old Bulgarian has a strong history at Indian Wells, having reached the semifinals, quarterfinals, and fourth round on multiple occasions in recent years. In contrast, Atmane has struggled to find consistent success since his semifinal run at Cincinnati in 2025 and has a poor record in Indian Wells, with no wins in two previous attempts.

In another match, Korda will enter the tournament with recent momentum after clinching his third ATP title at Delray Beach less than two weeks ago. With notable victories over players like Alex Michelsen, second seed Casper Ruud, and world No. 24 Tommy Paul, Korda will be looking to build on his success. He is set to face Francisco Comesana, who he has never encountered before. Comesana, currently ranked 82nd, has struggled this season with a 3-6 record and has performed poorly during the Golden Swing on clay. This will be Comesana’s inaugural appearance at Indian Wells, which may not yield a long stay.

With both players eager to advance in the tournament, fans can expect thrilling action as Dimitrov aims to turn the tide against Atmane, and Korda seeks to continue his winning streak against Comesana.
