Dhruv Jurel has been called up as a replacement for the injured Rishabh Pant for India’s upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand, which begins on Sunday in Vadodara. Pant was ruled out after suffering a side strain when hit on the ribs during a training session.

Jurel has been in exceptional form during the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he has emerged as Uttar Pradesh’s leading run-scorer. Over seven matches, he has accumulated a remarkable 558 runs at an impressive average of over 90, including two centuries and four half-centuries. His performance has been instrumental in guiding Uttar Pradesh to the top of the Elite Group B points table, with a clean slate of seven victories and a total of 28 points.

As Jurel joins the national squad, many eyes will be on him to see if he can translate his domestic success to the international stage. The selectors made the decision to include him in the team shortly after Pant’s injury was confirmed.

Uttar Pradesh is gearing up for a quarterfinal clash against Saurashtra in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where Jurel’s contributions will be crucial not only for his state team but also as he seeks to make a mark in his debut ODI series for India. His leadership and batting prowess have set high expectations that he will perform well in the international arena.
