A new teaser trailer has dropped for the highly anticipated sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2, featuring the return of Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in their beloved roles. Fans are treated to a nostalgic glimpse of Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs as they reunite in an elevator. Notably absent from the footage are Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, who also reprise their roles from the original 2006 fashion classic.

In the brief clip, Miranda quips to Andy, “Took you long enough,” cleverly acknowledging both her character’s demanding nature and the long wait of nearly two decades for this sequel. Just over a year ago, Hathaway expressed skepticism about the film’s likelihood, telling a reporter in April 2024 that she wouldn’t hold out much hope. She had previously mentioned the challenges of creating a sequel, noting how the original film was emblematic of a different time.

The sequel promises to immerse audiences once again in the fashion world of New York City and the polished environment of Runway Magazine. Directed by David Frankel and penned by Aline Brosh McKenna, The Devil Wears Prada 2 introduces several new characters portrayed by a talented ensemble cast, including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, and many others. Sydney Sweeney was also spotted on set, though her specific role remains unannounced.

Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman will also return, reprising their roles as Lily and Irv from the original film. The first movie showcased Hathaway as a fresh graduate landing a job at a Vogue-like fashion magazine under the iron-fisted editor Miranda Priestly. The original story was adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel, which saw a sequel in 2013 with Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns.

Set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, The Devil Wears Prada 2 from 20th Century Studios is produced by Wendy Finerman, with executive production by Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt, and McKenna. As fans eagerly await this new chapter, it brings hope and excitement for a generation that has cherished the original film’s wit and style.
