A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry until 10 AM Friday morning, urging caution for drivers on the roadways. Friday begins on a mild note with temperatures around 56°F, accompanied by fog. As the day progresses, a warm front moving northward is expected to usher in warmer air, with forecasters predicting temperatures that could approach record highs. The current record stands at 78°F, a mark last reached in 2008.
This warm air mass is projected to persist through Saturday as the region remains positioned along the southern edge of high pressure. Residents should prepare for another round of fog on Friday night. Saturday’s forecast suggests a breezy morning that may help dissipate some of the fog, with morning lows in the mid to upper 50s. Sunshine is anticipated to dominate the day, pushing temperatures close to 80°F, inching towards the record of 81°F, set in 1972.
A cold front is expected to move through Saturday night, which may bring a few brief showers; however, most areas are not likely to see significant rainfall. Sunday will be characterized by mostly cloudy skies and windy conditions, with gusts reaching 25-30 mph. Temperatures will range from 56°F in the morning to around 65°F in the afternoon.
Looking ahead, Monday could see sunny skies with temperatures between 31°F and 53°F. The trend of mostly sunny weather continues into Tuesday with highs reaching 60°F. A new cold front will approach by Wednesday, bringing a mix of sun and clouds and a 30% chance of rain, with temperatures expected between 39°F and 59°F. Thursday will see a similar pattern with a 20% chance of rain and temperatures between 40°F and 58°F.
For marine activities, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM Friday. Boaters can expect southwesterly winds at 5 knots with calm seas initially. As the weekend progresses, winds are expected to increase, and Saturday night will bring westerly winds that could intensify on Sunday.
As always, residents are encouraged to stay safe and prepare for changing weather conditions.
